- What to see/do: The Venetian Castle of Methoni is one of the largest in the Mediterranean. Walk up to Bourtzi, the small octagonal tower that is bathed by the sea and take unique photos.

Koroni: The Mansion and the Picturesque Alleys (~1 hour drive)
- What you will see/do: Take a stroll through its whitewashed alleys and climb up to its Castle. People still live inside the fortress, while the Monastery of Timios Prodromos also dominates. Finish the visit with a fresh seafood lunch at the picturesque harbor.
- Our tip: The road has a few twists and turns, so allow a little extra time for the drive.
Kardamyli & Messinian Mani: Stone, Sun and Olives (~45′ drive)
The road to Western Mani offers one of the most beautiful coastal routes.
- What you will see/do: Kardamyli is a beautiful, picturesque stone-built village. Walk through the old town with its restored tower houses and continue south for a swim in the crystal clear waters of Kalogria or Stoupa, where Nikos Kazantzakis lived.

Polylimnio Waterfalls: The Blue Lake of Messinia (~40′ by car)
For nature and hiking lovers, Polylimnio is a hidden gem.
- What you will see/do: A complex of small lakes and impressive waterfalls hidden in a lush green canyon. The hike is not particularly difficult, but requires sneakers. If you are brave, dive into the icy waters of Lake Kadis!
- Our advice: Avoid the midday hours of August as it gets quite crowded.
